Most people can recognize a mushroom when they see one, but have you ever wondered how that mushroom got there? And what is it doing there, anyway? Ever wondered about that yellow blob that seems to appear spontaneously in your mulch or on your lawn? Did you know that many plants, including the trees in our forest, could not survive without the important associations their roots established with fungi? This talk will
introduce the us to the fascinating world of that poorly understood kingdom…Fungi!

Presenter Bio: Robert E. Marra

Dr. Marra earned his PhD in plant pathology and mycology from Cornell University. He currently works in the Department of Plant Pathology and Ecology at The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station and does research in Forest Pathology, Genetics and Mycology.
